Today is a new day day, I just want to say embrace it no matter how difficult it is.
I have been reading so many books and I notice that a lot of life coaches put emphasis on being present.
To experience life and acknowledge every emotion we feel during a difficult time.
I was reminded about a time in my life when I was diagnosed systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), it's an autoimmune disease that attacks your joints and you suffer from severe fatigue.
I didn't take it seriously because I had no idea what it was.
But it heat me hard when I was told I would be on chronic medication and that there was no cure for it.
It was like my worst nightmare, I couldn't not explain to people what it was.
I was overwhelmed by fear, asking God if this was a joke, even decided that it was going to go away soon.
Today is literary 3 years since my diagnosis.
I must say without the support of my husband, my family and my friends I would not have been able survive.
It has been an amazing experience for me because I have met versions of myself I had no idea about.
I have become patient with others and most of all I have discovered that healing from God comes in different forms.
While I longed for physical health, God gave me mental health. I get to share with all of you the story of living with Lupus. What I am sure of is that the disease doesn't have me, I have it.
This means I am bigger than it, I can manage it without being depressed by it.
I know there are many people going through adversity and at times want to give up, but don't despair allow yourself to get to a point where you can see the 'good'. In Xhosa there is a saying 'yonke into iye dlula' nothing lasts forever.
This passage that says 'all things work together for good to those that are in Christ' means in every experience life throws at us, there is a 'good'.
I am still very sure that I will get my physical health back to normal.
In fact I affirm this everyday, that my body is healing itself into complete health and wellness.
It does not matter when will it happen but the 'good' has been manifested through my mental health.
I am excited for a new chapter and am becoming stronger through this process. Autoimmune diseases are very complex but I want to learn more about them so that I can educate others.
What are you going through right now? Are you willing to absorb every emotion that it awakens in you so you can encourage others one day? - Avuyile Mngxitama-Diko #rookielifecoach
